Schools/Colleges

sarah67I am an advocate for “whole person” education and have a group of experts around me that support me in this vision. My expertise lies in changing cultures and to do this I use a myriad of tools, including coaching, restorative justice and my addiction, Social Media ( web 2.0 strategies).

My Work

My work with schools and colleges is an eclectic mix. I am passionate about supporting forward-thinking schools that believe in youth participation and challenging the status quo. I am driven by a desire to make our education relevant and supportive to modern day youth. I believe that schools and colleges are vital communities for our young people and as such, we need to build strong, powerful relationships with their students that go beyond measurements and results.

The brilliance of my work emerges when I partner with enthusiastic, community-minded change makers who believe our young people deserve more and want to strive to achieve that using innovative, fresh approaches.

On a Personal Note

I am an information junkie and am constantly topping up on information about generations, human behaviour, diet, exercise and its effect on behaviour and learning and when I am felling particularly intelligent, neuroscience. I can get very animated about the wider impact that everyday interactions with young people can have on society as a whole and if I was a scholar, which I am not, then this is what I would study.

Here are a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing

  • Perhaps we could partner together to implement coaching a programme in your school. ( see below)
  • We could support you students to get better grades.
  • We could work together to build a strong community ethos in your school.
  • I could help you put a conflict resolution process in place that pulls from time-tested, restorative justice methods.
  • You could consult with me and my experts to adopt a more Web 2.0 ( social networking) school system that will engage and motivate your students.
  • You could invite me to your school to speak to the students, teachers or parents.

Still need more ideas?

Below we have listed a few of the ways in which we have helped schools in the past that hopefully will stimulate some thoughts and ideas for you. If you would like to discuss any of these ideas, then please do contact us.

Year 7

In this year, coaching can be extremely helpful in combating what has become known as Transition Regression. There is much documentation on the backward movement of some students during Year 7. Working with you, we can identify groups of students who appear to be regressing and in small groups work with them, re-focusing them and re-committing them to education.

Year 8

In year 8 we can support your school in implementing a system of goal-setting with weekly and monthly checkpoints. We have found that this can increase motivation and commitment to learning. We can also work with students to identify their learning styles and therefore make their classes, homework and studying more effective.

Year 9

We have found year 9 to be one of the most challenging times for a teenager at school and have had much success with implementing Teen As Coach projects in this year group that give teenagers more responsibility and control of their own lives.

Year 11

During this year we can work with borderline students and identify their drivers and motivators. We can then offer support and guidance up to exam taking and support with studying. We can also work with the high achievers to ensure that they get the best grades they can.
Sarah and her team can also consult with your school on any issues that you have. We can support you in bringing a more “coaching ethos” into your school environment, staff and pupils alike.

Sarah and her team can also offer Equine Leadership Development and Coaching for Teachers
