She is now contacting social services today to ask to be taken into care (as she has done in the past.) I dont they will but do you have any suggestions as to how i can improve my relship with her? I ask her to come home so we can sort it out but all she says is she hates the lot of us and doesnt want to come home and isnt going to. I dont know what her problem is and when i ask her she just says i piss her off! I have paid for two or three terms of councelling for her but when she gets near to anything working she backs out and wont go there. Do i just let her get on with it and hope she comes round eventually? I cant function properly whilst this is going on!

Jill I think what you all need is some intensive family therapy or some restorative parenting type intervention. I think without expert outside support it may be hard to mend the hurt here. I think the family needs to heal and get through this together.

My daughter is 15. I have let things ride hoping she would become human at some stage but things have escalated to the point where a lot of this advice is irellevant. She goes out and stays out when she likes and only comes back when she wants money or food.
She is extrmemly rude to me using language that is obcene and totally disrespectful. I have at last made a stand that she wont get pocket money for the forseeable future and all hell is let loose accompanied by the fact that the mother of the girl she is staying with is taken in by her and thinks i should give her money.
I will obviously give her money for essentials and she has food here and bed (assuming she can get to it!) I have put up with so much abuse from her in the past 2 years and cannot do it any more. Its very tough because i feel like i am being mean but i dont want to reward bad behaviour any more and she spends her money on cigarettes, booze and cannabis mostly anyway.
She will be in last year GCSE this september and is way behind because she is not living in her life but escaping all the time. Dont know what to do now as i think she will choose to stay away. Jill

I can only imagine how challenging this is. Yes my offerings are not really aimed at such extreme situations but I have seen them work in situations like yours. Sometimes we have to do what feels right for us as a parent and often that is not easy. What you need to do is work on your relationship with her first and foremost if you can improve that then you may be able to have impact on her life.
